Post 334 opens tourney with 6-3 win
A five-run fifth-inning surge powered the Post 334 team to an opening victory, 6-3 over the Mandan Chiefs, in the first round of the Jamestown tournament Friday afternoon in Jack Brown Stadium.
The team was down 1-0 going into the last of the third when Josh Jensen led off with a double and moved over to third with a successful bunt by Bo Daniels. On the play at first — to get Daniels — the ball was thrown away to score Jensen. The play opened the door to four more runs.
Doug Pouliot threw the first five innings, pitching despite taking a line shot off his leg in the fourth and Benny Roseth came on in the sixth to get the save. Kyle Waterman boosted his team-leading batting average to .482 with a three-for-four day at the plate that included a pair of opposite field doubles, one of which was part of the third-inning rally. Ian Andrews also had two hits and drove in two runs.
The victory was Post 334′s fifth straight and 16th of the season.
