Playoff series game one: a 10-0 win
Joe “Bruno” Brinda gave up two hits and struck out six while teammate Jeremy Oakley banged out three hits Wednesday night at Wintercrest West in a 10-0 seven-inning win for Post 334 over Cooper in game one of a North Hennepin League best of three playoff series.
In all, Post 334 collected eight hits, including a two-run, sixth-inning homer by Tony Remund, which provided the ninth and 10th runs of the game and led to a shortened contest — from nine innings to seven via the 10-run rule. Post 334 scored a run in the first, three in the second, one in the third and three in the fifth before Remund’s blast over the left field barrier.
The win moved Post 334 to within one win of returning to 10th District tournament play for a 12th consecutive year. Game two in the series is scheduled July 15 at Cooper, 5 p.m., and if needed, game three will take place later in the evening back at Wintercrest West.
