The day literally slipped away
A day of promise just slipped from the grasp of Post 334 Friday morning at Hagis Field on the campus of Bethel University, site of first-round Gopher Classic tournament play.
Post 334 took a 6-3 lead into the seventh inning of its first game against Hopkins, but failed to close the deal and wound up yielding four runs in a 7-6 loss. Stunned by the defeat, Post 334 never recaptured its poise and gave up five unearned runs in the third inning of game two to Sioux Falls West — on two-out four errors — in what turned ultimately became a 12-1 loss.
On the day Ian Andrews returned to the batting order and had a three-run first-game home run in addition to a pair of singles. In game two, shortstop Tony Remund had two hits, including a second-innng home run that gave Post 334 a momentary 1-0 lead.
