Big first led to big win at Anoka
After a disastrous Wednesday — a pair of decisive losses to Osseo and Maple Grove — the Post 334 team snapped back Thursday night, July 8, at Castle Field in Anoka with an 11-1 win over the Post 102 team.
A seven-run, eight-hit first inning set the tone for this game and made up for the previous night’s lack of hitting and run production (one run in each of the losses). Luke Hite started it with a double up the left-center-field gap and Kyle Waterman finished it with a single.
Waterman, who was the designated hitter for this game, had two first-inning hits of a four-for-four night at the plate. Hite later contributed a two-run homer — his first in Legion baseball — in the fifth and righty Ian Andrews, coming off his leg injury, scattered three hits and struck out six to gain his first win of the summer.
