Drought hit seven in Rapid City
The Post 334 baseball team’s losing string in the annual Rapid City Firecracker national-level tournament hit seven Saturday afternoon, July 3, with a 14-4 loss to the Denver Mile High team. Prior to that loss, Post 334 was defeated July 2 by the Boulder Colorado team 16-10. In both games, the roof caved in after the fourth innings.
Boulder parlayed a pair of three-run homers in the sixth and seventh innings to pull away from Post 334 in a tight game, while the Denver team scored 11 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to turn a 4-3 Post 334 lead into the the 10-run lead.
The seven straight losses left Post 334 with an 8-8 summer season record going into a final game Sunday, July 4, at Floyd Fitzgerald Stadium, site of the Firecracker tournament.
