Power surge lifted Post 334 into 10th District tourney for 11th straight year
For the 11th straight summer season and for the 20th time in the last 23 years, Post 334 qualified for 10th District tournament play. An 18-3 victory in seven innings over Tri City Blue Wednesday night gave Post 334 a sweep of of its best-of-three qualifying playoff series.
Post 334 bashed out 21 hits that produced the 18 runs. Four of the hits were by catcher Mike Latta, who had two homers and collected six RBI. Bill Hirschi, meantime, had two hits, including a grand slam homer and Jeremy Oakley had three hits, including a double and a homer.
Six runs were plated in the first and eight in the sixth. In between, Post 334 collected two in both the second and third innings — more than enough for pitchers Pat Freese and Alex Williams, who shared the mound duties…
