In the feature game of the Rapid City Firecracker tournament — the July 3 Fireworks display game — the host team Post 22 dealt Post 334 a decisive 5-1 defeat. Post 334 starting pitcher Bill Hirschi had trouble finding the strike zone early and gave up single runs in the first and second and three in the third on five hits and eight walks before Ian Andrews came on in relief to shut the door.
