Baumgartner fans 13 in second straight Post 334 shutout and playoff win
Brandon Baumgartner fanned 13 and Post 334 put up three pairs of runs in the second, third and sixth innings Wednesday night for a 6-0 second round North Hennepin League playoff win over Andover.
It was Baumgartner’s fifth straight win of the summer after a 1-1 start in June. He gave up just four hits, walked two and hit a batter. For the Post 334 hitters, first-year player Joe Brinda drove in two of the runs with a second-inning single and a sixth-inning double. Two more runs were scored on sacrifice flys and Preston Ghizoni drove home a fifth run with a bloop hit into right field. The sixth run scored on an error.
The victory was Post 334’s 28th of the season against 15 defeats and put it into a 5:30 p.m. game tomorrow (Thursday, July 24) at Osseo. One more victory and Post 334 will qualify for its 10th straight district tournament…
