Post 334 opens Jamestown tourney with two wins
Back-to-back stellar pitching performances by Brandon Baumgartner and Steve “Sumo” Schroer afforded the still-meek-hitting Post 334 team a pair of opening wins in the Jamestown Post 14 tournament.
This is Post 334s 23rd appearance in the Jamestown tournament and it is coming off three consecutive championship finishes. Consequently, the two wins gave it a good start on winning a fourth straight title.
In the first game Post 334 beat Saskatoon 2-0 behind Baumgartner’s one-hit, 11-strikeout performance. Post 334 managed just three hits itself and scored both its runs in the fourth on consecutive singles by Cory Miller and Andy Evans.
In the second game Sumo Schroer scattereded eight hits in a 4-2 win. Post 334 scored three in the fifth on run-scoring hits by Devin Croal, Mike Latta and Carter Adams to break a 1-1 tie.
