Back-to-back doubles give Post 334 walk-off win in league opener
A two-out double by Andy Evans followed by another double by Joe Morrissette in the last of the seventh inning delivered a 4-3 walk-off win for Post 334 over Fridley Monday night, June 16 at Wintercrest West.
Evans started the rally with a line shot up the left-center field gap and Morrissette, who worked the count to three balls and one strike drilled a high shot over the Fridley Legion leftfielder’s head off the fence to easily score Evans with the winning run. It was Post 334’s opening league game of the summer and it was also Bill Hirschi’s first win as a member of the Post 334 pitching staff. Hirschi came on in the sixth in relief of starter Sumo Schroer, got into a jam and out of it with a strikeout and double play started by Evans at first.
The victory raised Post 334’s record to 4-1…
