Frogner fans 16 in opening win
Third-year left-handed pitcher Jordan Frogner, who had thrown a baseball just once since the American Legion season ended last August, struck out 16 in a 2-0 season-opening victory over Wahpeton, N.D. in the Marshall wooden bat tournament
Frogner, who kept in shape by riding 50 miles during warm weather periods on his tandem bike, was expected to throw just two innings as a season warm up. Instead, he pitched the entire game, giving up just two hits, one walk and a hit batter.
Meantime, Post 334 scored one in the first on a wild pitch and added an insurance run in the last of the sixth when Joe Morrissette singled home Joe Brinda from second. Devin Croal and Steve Schroer had two hits in the game while the Post 334 order came through with eight total hits.
